A solution architect is responsible for designing one or more applications or services within an organization and is typically part of a solution development team. You must have a balanced mix of technical and business skills and will often work with a business architect for strategic direction. The main focus is on the technical decisions made about the solution and how they affect business results. The rest of the development team will use the information to implement the solution.
A
solution architect needs significant people and process skills. I often
confront management, trying to explain a complex problem in simple terms. They
need to find ways to say the same thing using different words for different
audiences, and they also need to truly understand business processes to create
a coherent view of a usable product.
